The short version
Dance Sage records your dancing, detects your pose, and plays it back with a skeleton overlay. All of that happens on your iPhone. We do not ask who you are, we do not create an account for you, and we never receive your videos.
What stays on your iPhone
Everything you record is written to Dance Sage's private storage on the device itself:
- Your dance videos.
- The pose data, sometimes called keypoints or skeleton data, extracted from them.
- Beat and tempo information detected from the recording.
- The names you give your recordings.
None of this is uploaded to us. Deleting a recording in the app removes it from your device, and deleting Dance Sage removes all of it at once.
Camera and microphone
Dance Sage asks for camera access so it can record and analyse dancing, and for microphone access so recordings keep their sound. Pose detection runs entirely on your iPhone. Camera frames are never streamed to a server, ours or anyone else's.
The only thing that leaves your device
Dance Sage can help you find Latin dance events in a city. When you run a search, and only then, the app sends the details of that search to our server:
- The city, and optionally the region and country, that you typed.
- The date you selected.
- The dance styles you selected.
To find current listings, our server passes that search to an external AI search provider, OpenAI, which searches the public web and returns event details. Your search is not linked to you, because the app has no account and sends no name, email, contact list, advertising identifier, or device identifier. Nothing about your dancing, your recordings, or your pose data is ever included in a search.
If you never use event search, Dance Sage sends nothing off your device at all.
Sharing and exporting
When you export or share a recording, you choose where it goes through the standard iOS share sheet: Photos, Messages, TikTok, Instagram, or anywhere else you pick. Dance Sage hands the file to the destination you choose and is not involved after that. Whatever you send becomes subject to the privacy policy of the app or service you sent it to.
We do not upload your videos to Dance Sage's own social media accounts. If we ever want to feature a dancer, we will ask first.
Recording other people
Dance Sage can record two dancers at once. Please make sure anyone you record is happy to be recorded, and be especially careful before sharing a video that shows someone else. This matters to us, but it is your responsibility rather than something the app can enforce.
Music and copyright
Recording a song playing at a venue does not give you the right to republish that music. For this reason Dance Sage exports silent video by default and offers original audio only as a deliberate choice, for your own private review or where you have the necessary rights.
No tracking, no analytics, no ads
Dance Sage contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no third-party tracking software. We do not use the advertising identifier, we do not build a profile about you, and we have nothing to sell to anyone else. The only third-party component in the app is Google's MediaPipe, which performs pose detection on the device and sends nothing anywhere.
Children
Dance Sage is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13.
Your choices
Because we hold no account and no personal data about you, there is no profile to request or delete. You control everything from the device: delete individual recordings in the app, revoke camera or microphone access in iOS Settings, or delete the app to remove all recordings.
Changes to this policy
If Dance Sage gains features that change how data is handled, such as accounts or cloud lesson sharing, this page will be updated before those features ship, and the date at the top will change.
